When I became an author?
Taken from American Community School blog and the Greek Publisher, Biblionet, I share the day I became an author, at 17 years old.
“Mariam Elgabry was born in Egypt in 1993. Her family moved to Greece where she grew up. A very good student with interests ranging from theater to chemistry, she balances between academic success, sports, writing and social action. She completes the International Baccalaureate in May 2011, and hopes to achieve her next goal: studying in England.
The book “Everlasting” was written when she was fourteen.” — skroutz.gr
“One of the youngest Greek writers, Mariam Elgabry, ACS Athens Academy student, presented her book on Thursday, January 27th 2011 at 7pm at the ACS Athens Arts Center (129 Agias Paraskevis & Kazantzaki Street, Halandri).
In her book, a novel titled «Everlasting», the young author refers to the perpetual struggle of man against the establishment.
Her first published book, “Everlasting”, is a novella centered on a young girl, Arabella Royston, who at the tender age of fourteen daringly examines and assess the world around her. “A lady’s thoughts hidden inside a silent soul, sweat to be heard”, as Mariam states.
The evening included a literary analysis of the novella, by Ms Mandy Dragatakis, which was followed by a reading from the book by the author. Mariam dedicated her novella to Mr. Hassim Sabbagh and his son Mr. Samir Sabbagh was welcomed on stage. At this event, the Acting Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Mariliza Xenogiannakopoulou honored us with her presence. Mariam’s family and friends as well as ACS Faculty and Staff also attended. Following the presentation refreshments were offered at the Theater lobby where book signing took place.” — ACS
